Sheryl Sandberg, COO of FaceBook, talks openly in her book ‘Lean In’ about the challenges women face in the workplace. The practical and obvious ones, such as combining a career with raising a family and finding the right mentors and sponsors; the internal obstacles, such as fear, self-doubt, lack of confidence and our internalising of negative messages; and other barriers that frequently exist, such as negative stereotyping and unconscious bias.
Sheryl provides excellent practical advice – sit at the table, make your partner a real partner, seek and speak your truth – combined with real life stories and good humour.
Lean In is an excellent read for women (and men) who want to progress in their careers.
