Anne Ward, A Woman of Influence

Anne Ward is a woman of influence – changing business and society.

In 2013, Anne’s achievements have been recognised by the Australian Financial Review and Westpac Group Women of Influence Awards, in the Board and Management category.

It was after investing 28 years in the practice of commercial law that Anne became a professional company director. She is currently Chairman of Colonial First State Investments Ltd – overseeing $50 billion in investments – Avanteos Investments Ltd, Qantas Superannuation Plan, and the Centre for Investor education, and she is a Director of FlexiGroup Ltd.

Anne has also previously been a director of the Transport Accident Commission, Chairman of Pyrenees Vineyard Management Ltd and a Director of NAICL Ltd. She has an impressive and broad range of experience.

If the above directorships aren’t inspiring enough, Anne’s work also extends to include health and medical research. She is a Director of the Foundation for Imaging Research and a Governor of the Howard Florey Neuroscience Institutes, and has previously been a director of the Epworth Hospital and the Brain Research Institute.

It is more than fair to say Anne Ward knows about Boards, and about women in directorship roles.

Anne is championing the call for quotas for women on Boards, similar to the system implemented in Norway. As a woman of influence who understands the advantages to business and society of having more female directors, Anne Ward is working on behalf of us all to effect that change.
